Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
Aldwincle Street Party – Friday 3rd June 2022
Thank you all for attending the Street Party and for making it such a successful event. In particular, we are grateful to all those who helped during the set-up and afterwards. The tables and chairs were cleared in record time and we had very little clearing up to do. We were fortunate in having ideal weather in stark contrast to the persistent rain at our Diamond Jubilee Street Party. Although the weekend celebrations are over, we have a more lasting tribute with the Mini-Orchard on the Village Green.
Queen’s Jubilee Mini-Orchard
Plant a tree for the Jubilee is one of the ideas that is being encouraged Nationally, and the Parish Council decided to plant a mini-orchard on our village green which borders Baulks Lane. These trees needed to be planted in December to give them the best chance of survival. We invited children from the reception class at Trinity School to plant a selection of fruit trees and they enjoyed doing this just before Christmas. A commemorative bench has also been installed.
