Aldwincle Street Party

Celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE day

Friday 8th May 2020 has been designated the May Bank Holiday in order to coincide with the 75th anniversary of VE day. There will be a service of remembrance in the morning followed by a street party in the afternoon. A sub committee of the Parish Council is organising the event and will be looking for memorabilia and recollections of Aldwincle during 1939-1945 and is planning to display these in St Peter's Church.

07 July 2020Coronavirus Community Resilience Hub

A Local Resilience Hub has been set up in Northamptonshire to help in the co-ordination of support to those who are self-isolating and vulnerable. Within Aldwincle every household has been given a card with the phone numbers of volunteers offering to assist with food deliveries, medicines, or just acting as a voice on the end of the phone for contact or other advice.

We are fortunate to have Watties in the village, and Pat and Trevor are working hard to provide deliveries for those that are isolated.

The Resilience Hub also has a helpline 0300 126 1000 (option5) which links in with District and Borough Councils where futher assistance is required. Their latest Newsletter is available here

The Parish Council discussed the the possibility of re-opening the Play Area but having considered the Government advice, and the risks associated with the Aldwincle site, decided to keep the area closed, possibly until September. Face Covering Appeal
NHS Northamptonshire is looking for members of the public to make face coverings for use at the hospitals and GP surgeries to save surgical masks for the clinicians.  Government guidance on making and wearing face coverings is at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-wear-and-make-a-cloth-face-covering and there are a lot of online resources too.  Completed masks can posted or dropped off at Francis Crick House in Northampton.  For information, members of the public can email nccg.logisticsandppe.covid19@nhs.net.
